Bank & Account Scams

Scammers impersonate banks or credit unions and claim suspicious activity has occurred. They may know some personal information and may even spoof the bank's real telephone number. Their goal is usually to obtain passwords, debit-card information, verification codes, or convince the victim to move money.

Tips: Never provide a one-time security code to someone who contacts you. Hang up and call the number printed on the back of your debit or credit card. Never transfer money to a "safe account."
