SAMPSON COUNTY, N.C. (October 24, 2025) — Transportation professionals from across the region gathered for the Annual Roadeo and Training Day on October 18, an event designed to celebrate driver excellence and promote ongoing professional development.

The Sampson County Public Transportation was pleased to welcome drivers from five neighboring counties—Robeson, Pender, Duplin, Onslow, and Carteret. This event brought together 63 drivers representing these counties, along with approximately 20 volunteers who helped make the day a success. The event provided drivers with an opportunity to showcase their skills in a friendly competition, testing their precision, safety, and professionalism behind the wheel.

In addition to the competition, attendees participated in valuable training sessions covering Defensive Driving, Car Seat Securement, CPR and First Aid, Wheelchair Securement, and HIPAA Compliance. These sessions are part of the County’s ongoing commitment to ensuring the highest standards of safety and service within its transportation programs.

The Public Transportation Department extends its sincere appreciation to Duplin County for providing the event site and for their generous hospitality throughout the day.

The success of the Annual Roadeo and Training Day was also made possible through the generous sponsorship of our business partners, whose continued support demonstrates a shared commitment to safety, teamwork, and professional growth within the transportation community. These business partners are: NCACC, Parker Gas Co., Model1 Commercial Bus Sales, Palmetto Bus Sales, Interstate Bus Sales, Clinton Wheel Alignment, Food Lion of Clinton, and Safe-T-Works Inc.

“Events like this highlight the skill, dedication, and professionalism of our drivers,” said Public Transportation Director Mobley. “We are proud to celebrate their accomplishments and to offer opportunities that enhance safety and service for the communities we serve.”
