Sampson County Appoints Jeffery Hudson as Interim County Manager

[SAMPSON COUNTY, N.C.] –During the Sampson County Board of Commissioners’ special meeting on December 17, all five commissioners voted unanimously to appoint Jeffrey Hudson as the Sampson County interim county manager. He will officially assume the role on January 21, 2025.

Jeffrey Hudson, a native of Onslow County, North Carolina, has completed a diverse 30-year career in public service. His extensive experience in local government and community engagement will be invaluable to our county as we continue to move forward with confidence and vision. Mr. Hudson has held key leadership roles, including Town Manager of Holly Ridge, Deputy County Manager and County Manager of Onslow County, and CEO of Onslow Water and Sewer Authority (ONWASA), North Carolina’s third-largest water authority.

Mr. Hudson is a graduate of Campbell University with honors and holds a Master’s in Public Administration from Webster University. His leadership is further supported by advanced training from the University of Virginia’s Senior Executive Institute and the UNC School of Government. He has led disaster response efforts, including hurricanes Bertha, Fran, and Floyd, and has a track record of improving efficiency and resiliency in government services.

His community involvement includes receiving the 2015 Onslow County Man of the Year award, serving as Chairman of the Jacksonville-Onslow Chamber of Commerce, and being named to the prestigious Order of the Long Leaf Pine. He is also a former Vice-Chair of the Onslow County Board of Education. He remains active in his church and as a volunteer with Trail Life USA and the New River YMCA.

The current Interim County Manager Nancy Dillman has expressed great confidence in Mr. Hudson's competency, acknowledging that his leadership skills, knowledge, and vision will be a tremendous asset to our county.
