Sampson County Update regarding Winter Weather Fern

[Sampson County, NC] – Sampson County Emergency Management is actively monitoring conditions and coordinating with other public safety partners as needed. Sampson County remains ready to adjust operations and response measures if conditions change.

Weather updates: Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Sampson County. As for updates obtained from the National Weather Service Raleigh, freezing rain is expected to change to rain from the middle I-95 corridor southward, and south and east of Fayetteville this evening and early overnight tonight.

Sampson County Offices Update: Due to weather conditions, Sampson County offices will have a delayed opening on Monday, January 26, 2026. Offices will open at 10:00 a.m.

Sampson County Government strongly encourages residents to

  • Stay informed by following the official news channels.
  • Stay off the roads if possible. Roadway conditions have deteriorated across the state. Please stay off the road and allow first responders to work safely. If you must travel, please use extreme cautious and allow extra time.
  • Prevent slips and falls: Walk slowly and take small, shuffling steps; Wear shoes with good rubber traction; Always use handrails when available, even if you think you might not need them; Clear ice and snow as soon as possible.
