Sampson County Government welcomed students from the Clinton-Sampson Chamber of Commerce Junior Leadership Program for a behind-the-scenes look at local government operations and public service.

Junior Leadership is a nine-session leadership development program organized by the Clinton-Sampson Chamber of Commerce. The program is designed to expose students to community needs, opportunities, challenges, and resources while strengthening leadership, communication, and team-building skills. Students also have opportunities to connect with participants from other schools and engage with community leaders. During their visit on January 28, 2026, students learned about how county government worked and toured county facilities. The group also participated in a simulated budget planning session facilitated by Stephanie Fulton, Sampson County Clerk to the Board. Stephanie did an outstanding job teaching students about county services and guiding students through how public funds are planned, prioritized, and managed to meet community needs. Sampson County Board of Commissioners Chairman Allen McLamb and County Manager Allen Vann also attended the program, listened and answered students' questions.

Sampson County Government appreciated the opportunity to host these students and give them hands-on experience about how local government works. We love seeing students collaborate, ask thoughtful questions and work through real-world budgeting decisions. We value our partnership with Clinton-Sampson Chamber of Commerce and other program partners as we develop the next generation of community leaders.
